Chicory is a native European plant with a root that has been used in food and medicine. Through a strange turn of events, it found itself an immigrant in New Orleans. Another turn of events, the Civil War, placed an embargo on coffee. Now our roots with European roots ended up roasted and blended in Creole coffee, and, by gosh, it was great! No need to apologize for blending coffee with chicory!

What is New Orleans, if not a melting pot, where chicory, coffee, language, music, cuisine, religion, traditions, culture, and people blend in a gloriously beautiful way, like no other place on Earth?
